These two off-campus programs are valuable for students who wish to gain on-the-job experience and earn high school credits as well. Students can earn credits by volunteering in their community or by working in jobs that may help them in their career choice. Students can earn up to a total of 30 credits in Work Experience 15, 25 and 35.
The Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to get a head start as an apprentice in a trade. By carefully planning their high school program, students are able to begin their apprenticeship usually in Grade 11 and/or 12. RAP students earn high school credits, hours toward their apprenticeship and are paid an hourly wage as well.
The pre-requisites for the Work Experience program is HCS3000 (Workplace Safety Systems). RAP students must also complete HCS3010 (Workplace Safety Practices)
Christ the King students are eligible for the STAR Catholic Scholarship Award which is earned by students who complete 130 or more credits in their high school program.
