Adult Education
So you have made the decision to go back to school as an adult student – CONGRATULATIONS!
You are definitely headed in the right direction and have made the choice to improve your well being and better your way of life. By making this decision, setting some goals and working hard to achieve them, you have begun a new, challenging and rewarding journey and the staff at STAR Catholic Outreach are proud to be a part of it.
Going back to school as an adult student can be both exciting and a little scary. You may have some doubts or fears but learning as an adult has some real advantages. Life experiences that you as an adult have experienced through the years make it easier to relate to educational material and you can often see the connections between things more readily than a younger student would. Believe it or not, although you may have been out of school for awhile, you have been learning new skills every day in everything you do!
However, there are as an adult student a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration such as trying to juggle a full-time job, a family and homework all at the same time. These upcoming challenges you will face are challenges others face as well. As difficult as it may seem, remember; you are not alone! There are several resources available to help you achieve your educational goals and help you overcome and deal with these obstacles.

Some helpful tips for keeping on top of things are:
- Keep a positive attitude
- Keep yourself healthy by eating right and exercising on a regular basis
- Stay organized – this will help reduce stress in your life
- Set weekly goals and reward yourself once goals have been completed
- Be realistic! Expecting too much of yourself can create stress and become a problem
